You're All Beautiful

When you see yourselves in the mirror, what do you think? Do you see yourselves as the beautiful person that you all truly are? Do you have to constantly remind yourselves that you are beautiful, or do you just know it? Girls all over the world are dealing with one common problem- low self esteem.

Over 77% of girls and young women in the US and UK describe themselves negatively and have low self esteem, and this number grows greater every year. Girls across the world find it hard to accept themselves when all they see in the media are pictures, commercials, and ads of digitally manipulated, airbrushed, size 0 models. Over ¾ of children going into the fourth grade have been on diet says Time Magazine. Isn’t that sad? According to a recent study, over half the females between 18-25 would rather be hit by a truck then be fat.

Do you ladies diet? Did you know that the more often you diet, the more likely you are to develop an eating disorder. People all over are putting their bodies through horrible things, just to be something they’re just naturally not. You don’t need to be a size 0 to be beautiful. You don’t need to wear makeup to be “pretty”. All of you are beautiful, just the way you are, and if others can’t accept that or try to tell you otherwise, then they obviously aren’t worth your time. You shouldn’t put your health at risk to fit in with stereotypes. You see models on runways that are tall and thin, but how many people like that do you see walking around every day? Almost none, if any. Actually, a lot of the models you see on runways now-a-days are drunk. They drink champagne before walking to ease the pains they have in their stomachs due to not eating.

The average US woman is about 163lb and wears a size 14 dress. As a matter of fact, some of the world’s most famous women were bigger than a size 0, for example, Marilyn Monroe and Oprah Winfrey. There are even famous, and successful, models that are bigger than a size zero as well, like Natalie Laughlin and Whitney Thompson.

So to conclude this, I want you really think about the things you say to yourself. We don’t need to fall into stereotypes just to “fit in”. Be unique, be different, be you. You are all beautiful, thick or thin, no matter what anyone on this earth says.
